Never place a period where God has placed a comma.
We believe the church’s mission is to change lives — individually, systemically, and globally. We work to make transformation possible, but trust in God’s grace. We are committed to working for justice, and we believe that lives are changed through global experiences and friendships. Why? Because God is still speaking.
Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is with your soul. (3 John 1: 2 – NRSV)
U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy called on all of us to recognize that addiction is a chronic illness, not a moral failing. First Congregational Church of La Grange offers this list of resources to support individuals and families affected by mental health problems or substance use disorder.
Substance use disorder and mental health disorders affect millions of Americans. Our community is no different from the rest of the country in this regard. If you are seeking help for yourself or someone you know, resources are available:
State of Illinois Opioid and Drug Treatment Helpline – 1-833-2FINDHELP (1-833-234-6343) or Text “Help” to 833234
The helpline, which is available 24 hours a day, will put a caller in touch with a trained screener who will search for state-licensed options near the caller’s neighborhood or hometown. Options will take into account the type of treatment being sought, location of the caller, and insurance, if available.
